Discovery. Intrigue. Love. Death. Adventure after adventure.

We’re playing Homer’s Odyssey set to music at a one-time-only gig at SPACE, a wonderful venue in Evanston, IL (just outside Chicago), on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, with doors at 6:30pm and the show at 7:30pm.

We’ll use a 17th century translation by John Ogilby, but the music will be all ours. Think The Replacements crossed with The Byrds and XTC.

Rocking out to classic literature?

Well, yeah, the lyrics and the narrative are things that current filmmakers and video game designers can only envy and crib.

Our band, Mortal Fools, has done it twice before: First, in Paradise Lost Reimagined, and then Shakespeare’s Sonnets Reborn. Here are our concert videos at YouTube.

Academics aren’t thrilled with what we do, but people weren’t always obligated to attend classes and take tests in order to experience what we now call “classics.”

They heard them read aloud, watched them on stages, and screamed, booed, or cried as they saw fit.

Come see a classic the way it was meant to be experienced: Not read but rocked.

General Seating tickets are still available, which’ll give you a guaranteed seat and access to a great bar. There’s also a wonderful restaurant attached.

Here’s the link to tickets, and this is the link to the restaurant.

See you in January!
